The Story Behind the Stories
Keisha Patrick is an author, speaker, wife, mother, and encourager whose work explores faith, family, love, grief, healing, and the courage to begin again when life changes unexpectedly.
Her writing was shaped by her own journey through profound love, heartbreaking loss, caregiving, illness, and unwavering faith. Through the loss of her parents, her husband Bernard’s life-threatening illness, and the loss of their daughter, Ella Gloria Jean, Keisha discovered that a “new normal” is not the end of our story—it can be the place where a new chapter begins.
Keisha is the creator of The Life We Didn’t Expect Collection, which includes A Love That Survived, Our New Normal, and Hello Ella Gloria Jean. She is also the author of The God We Often Fail to Recognize and the When Love Finds Its Way contemporary Christian fiction series, where she writes about Black families navigating love, identity, family secrets, healing, and second chances.
Through memoir, faith-based nonfiction, Christian fiction, and speaking, Keisha creates stories and conversations that help people feel seen, encouraged, and less alone. Her message is honest and deeply personal: moving forward does not mean forgetting what we have lost. It means learning to carry love, grief, faith, and hope while continuing to live with purpose.
Keisha lives in Georgia with her husband, Bernard, and their beloved dogs, Bugsy and Hercules.
What Guides My Writing
01
Purpose
I write for anyone walking through a life they didn’t expect—so you can see your own story with fresh eyes and remember that your new normal is not the end, but the beginning of another chapter.
02
Resilience
Whether I'm writing memoir, faith-based nonfiction, or Christian fiction, I tell honest stories about love, family, identity, grief, healing, and the courage to begin again.
03
Hope
I believe hope is found in everyday moments—in a kind word, a shared story, a quiet prayer, or a walk with someone who understands. My words are meant to be that gentle companion.
04
Community
You don’t have to walk this road alone. Through my books, blog, and newsletter, I’m building a community where we can be honest about our journeys and remind one another that joy, love, and purpose are still possible.
05
Healing
Healing is not a straight line, but a tender process of letting love, faith, and time do their work. It’s okay to take small steps and rest along the way.
06
Legacy
I write to honor the people and experiences that shaped me, preserve the stories that matter, and leave readers with faith, hope, and something worth carrying forward.
