When Faith Can Sometimes Feel Like Silence

There are seasons in life when faith doesn’t feel strong.

It feels heavy.

It feels uncertain.

Sometimes, it can even feel like silence.

I’ve learned that faith isn’t always standing on a mountaintop celebrating God’s blessings. Sometimes, faith is simply choosing to trust Him when you can’t understand what He’s is doing.

I know what that kind of season feels like.

I lost my mom.

My husband nearly lost his life.

Then we lost our daughter.

Those were some of the darkest days of my life.

I prayed.

I cried.

I waited.

And if I’m honest, I was angry with God.

I didn’t understand what He was doing, or why I felt like I was being punished.

I asked questions I never imagined I would ask. I wondered why so much heartache seemed to come one after another. I believed in God, but there were moments when I struggled to understand His plan.

Looking back now, I see what I couldn’t see then.

God wasn’t absent.

He wasn’t ignoring my prayers.

He wasn’t punishing me.

He was working in ways I couldn’t yet understand.

He was strengthening my faith in the middle of my weakness.

He was changing my heart through my pain.

And He was preparing me for a purpose I never could have imagined.

That’s one of the hardest lessons I’ve learned about faith. We often want God to explain everything while we’re walking through the storm. More often than not, understanding comes later.

Faith isn’t the absence of questions.

Faith is choosing to trust God even when you don’t understand what He’s doing.

If you’re walking through a season where life doesn’t make sense, I want to encourage you today.

Don’t lose hope.

God is still writing a chapter you can’t see yet.

One day, you may look back and realize that what felt like unanswered questions were actually moments when God was quietly weaving together a story that was bigger than anything you could imagine.

That doesn’t erase the pain.

It doesn’t make the losses any less real.

But it reminds us that pain is not the end of the story.

God is still at work.

Even when we can’t see it.

Even when we don’t understand it.

Even when our hearts are breaking.

Hold on to hope.

Your next chapter may already be unfolding.

A new normal is not the end of our story. It is simply the place where the next chapter begins.
